Soda Shop 2.0

retro ice cream bar with stools up to a bar. glass cups line the back wall with a door into the kitchen.

Channel a 1930s soda fountain vibe, add a classic lunch counter and you're beginning to appreciate the appeal of The Ice Cream Bar, our hands-down favorite for ice cream, sodas and savory treats made with locally sourced organic dairy and produce. Anchored by an authentic soda fountain, this charmingly vintage spot brings back the lost art of the soda jerk. These days, in addition to whipping up imaginative sodas with things like sarsaparilla, sassafras and turbinado syrup, they're concocting "remedies" for the over-21 crowd. One of our favorites? The Dublin Honey, a mix of Guinness stout, caramelized honey ice cream, Valrhona chocolate syrup with a float of Graham's 10 year tawny port. Add a BLT, egg salad sandwich or grilled cheese and you have yourself the perfect spot for cool, casual dining in San Francisco.
