Sail Back in Time

pirate ship in bay

There’s so much to see and do at Fisherman’s Wharf that you might’ve missed the San Francisco Maritime National Park, but with a fascinating museum and several enormous vintage vessels to explore, it’s well worth a visit. The museum is actually below the decks of the 1886 ship Balclutha, and visitors can learn about San Francisco’s rich nautical history while wandering the ships that were actually there. Located about twenty minutes from our San Francisco area hotel, the park also has a beach and recreation area as well as a pier with a gorgeous view of the bay, the Golden Gate bridge and Alcatraz. Visitors can even attend a workshop on historical boatbuilding. The only thing that could be more authentic is traveling back in time yourself!
