Light the Night
The San Francisco skyline doesn’t have to work too hard to dazzle but right now, there’s even more awe-inspiring wonder in store. We’re talking about the Bay Lights, the world’s largest LED light sculpture – an incredible 25,000 lights spanning the San Francisco Bay Bridge. The lights were individually programmed by artist Leo Villareal to create a never-repeating display some 1.8 miles wide and soaring 500 feet high. An epic and decidedly elegant work, it was designed to mark the bridge’s 75th anniversary and is presented by San Francisco’s Illuminate the Arts. See it from dusk to dawn any night from now until March 2015 and, we hope, well beyond.
Address: There are lots of places to view the lights. Here’s one to try: Embarcadero Pier 7
